Museum of Light Announces New Album “Diviner”, Shares New Song “Blunt Force Drama”
Seattle-based rock band Museum of Light, consisting of Ted Alvarez (guitar/vocals), Jeff Bartlett (bass) and Rob Smith (drums), is back. The band has announced their upcoming sophomore album “Diviner” will be released on March 14, 2025 via Spartan Records.
The album is their first body of work in three years since the 2022 album “Horizon”.
Also, it is the first release with new bassist Jeff Bartlett.
From the album, the band released the first single called “Blunt Force Drama” on January 8, 2025.
The track was written by Rob Smith and Ted Alvarez. Produced by Scott Evans.
The band guitarist Ted Alvarez said of the song, “'Blunt Force Drama' is a bit representative of the whole recording experience in that the basic structure existed for a while, but it only really took shape at Ocean Sound. You can spend a lot of time rehearsing and think, 'yeah, this could be a cool song,' but it's largely in your mind until you hear all the unknowns - new bassist, new voices, crazy location - fall into place. In my memory, this one came early and quick. I can recall Scott (Evans) blasting an early mix while staring out across a damn fjord and thinking, 'alright, we might be on to something.' Not all the songs came together that easily, but I'm glad this one did because it set a bit of a road map for the giant sounds and moods we were going for.”- The new album comprises a 11-track, featuring guest appearances from Elissa Alvarez and Amelia Urry.
The band recorded the album at Ocean Sound in Giske, Norway with producer Scott Evans.
The album melds crushing heaviness with ethereal melody and introspective lyricism and is a bold evolution beyond their debut “Horizon,” with a sound that’s as raw and otherworldly as the Norwegian landscape itself.
The band said, “Exactly one year ago, the eminently talented Scott Evans joined us once again to record our follow-up to ‘Horizon.’ But this time, we did it at Ocean Sound in Giske, Norway. It was an experience we can’t put into words, even all this time later.” -
