The Lumineers Announces New Album “Automatic”, Shares New Song “Same Old Song”
American alt-folk band The Lumineers, consisting of Wesley Schultz (vocals/guitar) and Jeremiah Fraites (drums), has announced their upcoming fifth studio album “Automatic” will be released on February 14, 2025 via Dualtone.
This marks their first album in three years since the 2022 album “Brightside”.
From the album, the band released the first single called “Same Old Song” on January 8, 2025.
The track was written by Jeremiah Fraites and Wesley Schultz. Produced by The Lumineers, David Baron, and Simone Felice.
The accompanying music video was directed by Anaïs LaRocca.
In the clip, the band performed in front of VHS home movie-style projections, featuring surreal visuals and bringing the song's emotional depth to life.- The album comprises 11 songs, which the band recorded the album at Utopia Studio in Woodstock with co-producers David Baron and Simone Felice in under a month.
The album is said to be the band's “most raw and personal collection” to date.
The band lead singer Wesley Schultz said of the album in a statement, “This album marks 20 years of songwriting between Jeremiah and me. The album explores some of the absurdities of the modern world, like the increasingly blurry line between what's real and what's not, and the variety of ways we numb ourselves while trying to combat both boredom and overstimulation.”
Drummer Jeremiah Fraites added, “The project feels very much of this era. A palpable sense of connection between Wes and me. There's lots of love on this record. People who think they have our number, they'll be surprised.” -
