Deep Sea Diver Announces New Album “Billboard Heart”, Shares New Song “Shovel”
Seattle-based indie rock band Deep Sea Diver, consisting of Jessica Dobson (vocals/guitar), Peter Mansen (drums), Elliot Jackson (guitar/synthesizer) and Garrett Gue (bass), has announced their upcoming fourth studio album “Billboard Heart” will be released on February 28, 2025.
The album is the first release under their new label Sub Pop Records and marks their first LP in five years since the 2020 album “Impossible Weight”.
From the album, the band unveiled the second single called “Shovel” on January 7, 2025, following the album title track “Billboard Heart” released last September.
The track was written by Jessica Dobson and Peter Mansen. Produced by Jessica Dobson and Andy D. Park.
The accompanying music video was directed by Tyler Kalberg, Jessica Dobson, and Peter Mansen.
“'Shovel' is one of the most angular and dualistic songs I've written, and I wanted to do a one-shot video that captured the grit, rawness, and intensity of the song,” the band lead singer Jessica Dobson said of the song. “Simply put, it is me digging and dancing with a shovel in the middle of the night, desperately looking for beauty in dark places. Influenced by Lynch, the Cohen brothers, Nick Cave, and the sweet dance moves of Kate Bush.”- The new album comprises 11 songs, featuring a guest appearance from American singer-songwriter Madison Cunningham, produced by Jessica Dobson and Andy D. Park.
Jessica Dobson said of the album, “I'm so unbelievably proud of this record and I can't wait for you all to hear it in its entirety. This one took me down an entirely new path. One where I had to get in the dirt for a while & reconnect with my instincts and my spirit. Had to face a lot of fears, and at my lowest point, I was shown how much beauty and joy there is to be found when you truly let go.” -
