Fredrik Svabø Announces Debut Album “Kingo's Treat”, Shares New Song “Sophie” featuring thea wang
Norwegian music producer Fredrik Svabø has announced his debut album “Kingo's Treat” will be released on March 14, 2025.
From the album, he released a new song “Sophie” on January 3, 2025.
The song is the second single off of the album and featured Norwegian singer-songwriter thea wang, who also performed the previous song “Running” as lead vocals.
It was written by Fredrik Svabø and thea wang. Produced by Fredrik Svabø.
The track was written about a woman being cared for by her community after a loss and captures the melancholy feeling at the centre of the song as well as the need to escape the attention.
Fredrik Svabø said of the song, “It's a reflection on the emptiness that lingers after loss and how it can transform you. Meeting a world that keeps moving around you while you just try to keep up and get through the day. It tells a story about a person who has all these unspoken struggles, trapped in a cycle trying to outrun her pain.”- The album comprises 10 songs and complemented by a cast of Norwegian jazz musicians including Ola Øverby (drums) Andreas Rukan (bass) and Lyder Øvreås Røed (trumpet) .
It was tracked live at Propeller Studios in Oslo, utilising all of the studio's rooms simultaneously.
Fredrik Svabø, who is known as a key member of Norwegian singer-songwriter AURORA's live band, has been in development the album for over half a decade.
Fredrik Svabø said of the album, “There was so much music in me that I didn't get out through the other projects. I love being in the background and helping people get their vision out but I knew I had to do it under my own name, too.” -
Musically, in addition to Jazz elements, he used pedal steel on the album. He said, “I get a big kick when I first start to learn a new instrument and we ended up using it [pedal steel] throughout the album.”
