Panchiko Releases New Song “Shandy in the Graveyard” featuring billy woods
Nottingham-based indie rock band Panchiko, consisting of Owain Davies (vocals/guitar), Andrew 'Andy' Wright (guitar/keyboard), Shaun Ferreday (bass), Robert 'Rob' Harris (guitar) and John Schofield (drums), will release their upcoming sophomore album “Ginkgo” on April 4, 2025 via Nettwerk.
From the album, the band released a new song “Shandy in the Graveyard” on January 3, 2025.
The song is the second single off of the album, following the album title track “Ginkgo” released last November.
On the track, the band teamed up with New York-based rapper billy woods. This marks the first collaboration between Panchiko and billy woods.
The track was written by Andrew Wright and Owain Davies. Produced by Panchiko.
The accompanying music video was directed by Simon Ellis, who also created the band previous video for “Ginkgo”.
The new album is their first LP in two years since the 2023 album “Failed at Math(s)” and comprises 13 songs, produced by Panchiko.
Also, it is the first release under their new label Nettwerk.- Originally, the band was active from 1997 to 2001. Back in 2016, 4chan user found a copy of their debut demo EP “D>E>A>T>H>M>E>T>A>L” in a charity shop and uploaded to 4chan and Youtube.
The band frontman Owain Davies recalled “I woke up one day and ping—there’s a message on a defunct Facebook page of mine, ‘Hello, you’ll probably never read this, but are you the lead singer of Panchiko?’”
And then, the EP went viral and the band reunited in 2020.
The band released their debut album “Failed at Math(s)” in 2023, followed by their second full tour in the United States.
They signed to Nettwerk and announced the release of their sophomore album “Ginkgo” in November 2024.
Panchiko's band name is derived from a misspelling of pachinko, which is a mechanical game originating in Japan. -
