Radiator King Returns with New Song “The Second Coming”
Los Angeles-based rock band Radiator King, consisting of Adam Silvestri (vocals/guitar), Brian Viglione (drums) and Alexander Burke (keyboard), returned with a new song “The Second Coming” on December 6, 2024.
The song is their first music in a years since the 2023 “Ghost of Elvis”.
The track is a breakneck punk- and garage-tinged powerhouse of an alternative anthem. The song title is named after a Yeats poem about a world descending into chaos.
It was written by Adam Silvestri, Alex Burke, and Brian Viglione. Produced by Ted Hutt.
The band frontman Adam Silvestri said of the song, “I remember being holed up in my apartment, and having this realization that the mechanisms we believe are in place to protect us-how easily they can break down, and how vulnerable we really are when that thin veneer of security is ripped away.”
He continued, “Songs are like that sometimes. You can carry them with you and try to capture them, but they might not be ready to be born just yet. Sometimes it takes the right scenario to unlock their magic. In this case it was slimming our band down from a four-piece to a three-piece-the limitations allowed the song to have a fresh sound. It gave it character.”- The band recorded the track with producer Ted Hutt, who also produced the band's previous songs “Ghost of Elvis” and Hammer & Nails”.
Adam Silvestri said of working with Ted Hutt, “What drew me to Ted initially-he knows how to capture the energy of bands with a raw sound who are built for live shows. We had this really great first conversation. He said, ‘if we’re going to make music together, we have to build a relationship.’ So he started coming to rehearsals and getting to know the band. Through the whole process, he went above and beyond to foster a relationship with us, to understand our potential and draw it out of us.”
He continued, “Ted wanted us to express ourselves in the most genuine, natural way. He was pivotal in a philosophical sense-erasing boundaries and guiding us to rely on our most innate tendencies. He was like our coach, our trainer-the person in our corner with all this wisdom who could see everything from the outside looking in.” -
Originally, the band stared as Adam Silvestri's solo project. But since he moved to Los Angeles in 2021, he teamed up with his longtime collaborator Brian Viglione and Alexander Burke to form a proper band with a fixed lineup and all members contributing to the writing process.
