Robbie Williams Performs “Rock DJ” on The Graham Norton Show
British singer-songwriter Robbie Williams appeared on The Graham Norton Show to perform “Rock DJ” on December 31, 2024.
This marks his first performance on The Graham Norton Show in two years since the 2022 appearance.
The song was released as the lead single from his third studio album “Sing When You're Winning” in 2000.
It samples Barry White's “It's Ecstasy When You Lay Down Next to Me” and A Tribe Called Ques's “Can I Kick It?”.
The song won British Single of the Year, and the video won British Video of the Year at the 2001 Brit Awards.
Also, the song is featured on his biopic “Better Man” soundtrack, which was released on December 27, 2024.
The film “Better Man” was released on December 25, 2024, directed by Michael Gracey, starring Robbie Williams, Jonno Davies, Steve Pemberton, Kate Mulvany, Alison Steadman, and Damon Herriman.
But in the film, Robbie Williams is portrayed as a chimpanzee with CGI, performed by Jonno Davies using motion capture.
Also, the first single “Forbidden Road” from the soundtrack was nominated for Best Original Song at the 82nd Golden Globe Awards.- Robbie Williams told Graham Norton about the film “Better Man”, “It's weird. So I sent the first script over to Gary Barlow (a member of Take That). And he phoned me up, and we've got a great relationship now. And there was no pointing in fingers, or angry. And he just went, 'Rob!'. He said, 'I come off worse than Darth Vader in the first Star Wars.' And so we made amendments to a bit of the script. But that's the weird thing about, if you're lucky enough to be around this long, you prolong your career by talking about the past, and you use documentaries and books and films, to remind people that you're here. But when you talk about the past, my past happens to be contentious, and I was a different person then and I thought in a different way, and so did Gaz. And in this film, it sort of brings all that up again, so it's super odd and I can understand how it would be triggering for him. Everybody else in the movie that I throw under the bus, though, Fuck em!.”
