M.I.A. Drops New Music Video for “Marigold”
British singer-songwriter M.I.A. dropped a new music video for “Marigold” directed by Quentin Deronzier on December 25, 2024.
The song is featured on her sixth studio album “Mata”, which was released in 2022, marking her first album release for six years.
The track was written by Everett Romano, Maya Arulpragasam, Rex Masamune Kudo, Rick Rubin, Skrillex, Symere Woods, and Zacari Pacaldo. Produced by Rex Kudo, Heavy Mellow, Skrillex, Rick Rubin, Lil Uzi Vert, and Cisco Adler.
She also uses the video to promote her collection, OHMNI, which was released back in June.
The collection consists of hirts, jackets, hats, bags and boxers, making with copper and nickel Faraday fabric which is intended to deflect electromagnetic waves.
She claims protection from facial recognition, Wifi, Bluetooth and 5G radiation.
M.I.A. said of the video, “Miracles only happen if you expect it. It's a Miracle this video is even coming out 24.24., after being in the vault for 2 years, during all these wars. Here's a reminder to why we need the Miracle of baby jesus more than Eva!!!”- Along with the music clip, M.I.A. shared on social media, “Here's some hats I made before the Ohmni Hat. Expect miracles. 2025 I'm looking forward to bringing in the new me on OHMNI. Viva le miracles. Viva le revolution. Via le restoration of this paradise called earth.”

M.I.A. told hypebae about OHMNI, “We launched in 2017 with a collection to complement the AIM record in collaboration with Astrid Andersen. Initially, OHMNI was supposed to be an umbrella to build a community. We tried a few different collaborations but each time it wasn’t right. So, I locked in independently, put my life on hold and things fell into place.”
She continued, “Technological advancements aren’t going to slow down. It’s totally okay for a brand to coexist along that development. It’s not like you’re saying, “Technology is terrible, you must stop it.” You’re saying while that development is happening there can be a parallel existence of a brand that acknowledges it.”
She added, “Initially, the OHMNI brand I wanted to build was like that with organic fabrics but then the sort of M.I.A. thing kicked in, and it was like, “Put the organic cotton to the side for now, and just go with the technology thing, because it’s just so much more interesting.” - source : Apple Music
