Sofia Camara Releases New Version of Nickelback's “What Are You Waiting For?” for 2025 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship
Canadian singer-songwriter Sofia Camara released a reimagined version of Canadian rock band Nickelback's “What Are You Waiting For?” on December 12, 2024.
Followed by, she dropped a new music video for the song directed by Franklin Rubinstein on December 24, 2024.
The single is the official song of the upcoming 2025 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship, which will be held between December 26, 2024 and January 5, 2025. It will be broadcast live on TSN and RDS.
She will perform the song at the Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa before beginning of the tournament on December 26, 2024.
The original version of the song was released by Nickelback as the second single from their eighth studio album “No Fixed Address” in 2014.
The track was written by Jacob Kasher Hindlin, Chad Kroeger, Gordon Sran, and Ryan Peake. The new version was produced by Sam Arion.- Sofia Camara said of the song, “Being part of this with TSN and getting to perform for Hockey Canada is such an honour, and I can't wait for you all to hear my rendition of Nickelback's 'What Are You Waiting For?'. This song is motivational, moving, and inspiring in a unique way and I'm so glad I have the chance to give my own twist on it.”
