Katy Perry Releases Deluxe Edition of New Album “1432”
American singer-songwriter Katy Perry released a deluxe edition of her latest album “143”, entitled “1432” on December 20, 2024.
The album “143” was released back in September as her first album in four years since the 2020 album “Smile” and features collaborations with Kim Petras, Doechii, 21 Savage, and J.I.D.
The deluxe edition comprises 15 songs, including the original 11 tracks and four new songs “I Woke Up”, “Has A Heart”, “No Tears For New Year's”, and “OK”.
The new album title is the original's alphabetical meaning (“I love you”), this time refreshed to mean “I love you too.”
143 was a popular pager number to communicate “I love you” derived from the number of letters in each of the three words.
Katy Perry shared on social media, “I WOKE UP and wanted to give my KatyCats an early holiday gift. To everyone who HAS A HEART, I wish you NO MORE TEARS FOR NEW YEAR'S. I'm always gonna be around no matter if you're up or down. 1432 is here OK!”- On the album, she worked with producer Dr. Luke, who was sued by American singer-songwriter Kesha for infliction of emotional distress, sex-based hate crimes and employment discrimination.
Katy Perry was criticized for working with him.
Katy Perry responded, “I understand that it started a lot of conversations, and he was one of many collaborators that I collaborated with. But the reality is, it comes from me. The truth is, I wrote these songs from my experience of my whole life going through this metamorphosis, and he was one of the people to help facilitate all that. One of the writers, one of the producers. I am speaking from my own experience.” -
Katy Perry told Zane Lowe of Apple Music about the album, “I’m so grateful for making this record. I always wanted to make a dance record, a dance-pop record. With 143, it’s kind of three different things. It’s the quintessential me, with empowerment messages and uplifting messages, and then it’s real dance and real rhythmic.” - source : Apple Music
