Kingfishr Releases Two New Songs “Bet On Beauty” & “Killeagh”
Irish indie-folk trio Kingfishr, consisting of Edmond Keogh (vocals/guitar), Eoghan McGrath (banjo) and Eoin Fitzgibbon (bass), released two new songs “Bet On Beauty” and “Killeagh” on December 6, 2024.
The songs are the follow-up to “The Saviour”, which was released back in October.
“Bet On Beauty” was written by Edmond Keogh, Eoghan McGrath, Eoin Fitzgibbon, and Jim Eliot. “Killeagh” was written by Edmond Keogh, Eoghan McGrath, and Eoin Fitzgibbon. Both songs were produced by David Anthony Curley.
The band lead singer Edmond Keogh said of “Bet On Beauty”, “'Bet On Beauty' is about redemption. You're gonna mess up continuously. No one ever gets it right all the time. The main thing is that you aim up despite being a complete moron. I'm just thankful we're all morons.”- Banjo player Eoghan McGrath said of “Killeagh”, “Fitz is from a small town in east Cork called Killeagh, after which the song is named. He played hurling for his club for close to 20 years before turning his hand to music due to injury. We wrote the song in support of his club. Specifically an east county final they just won (hon the lads). It's about the pride of belonging somewhere and references the local area heavily.”

The previous song “The Saviour” received its first play during BBC Radio 1's Future Pop with Maia Beth.
The track was Edmond Keogh, Eoghan McGrath, and Eoin Fitzgibbon. Produced by David Anthony Curley.
Edmond Keogh said of the song, “'The Saviour' is about moving forward in the face of the challenges you face. It's about accepting the circumstances you find yourself in and aiming up from there. It's written in large part about college experiences. The pre-chorus is a reference to a night I found a girl passed out on the street, in convulsions on some kind of drugs. I often wonder what happened to her. She was in a really bad way and it was obvious her friends didn't give a shit about her.”
