Baths Announces New Album “Gut”, Shares New Song “Sea of Men”
Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Will Wiesenfeld, aka Baths has announced his upcoming fourth studio album “Gut” will be released on February 21, 2025 via Basement’s Basement.
The album is his first body of work in eight years since the 2017 album “Romaplasm” and comprises a 11-track.
Baths said of the album in a statement, “Gut is essentially me trying to make my feelings make sense by not initially psychoanalyzing them by instead just having feelings said and put on the table.”
From the album, he released the first single called “Sea of Men” on December 11, 2024.
The track was written and produced by Will Wiesenfeld.
He said of the song, “I find myself thinking about how confusingly animal I often feel-present in body but dissociative in spirit. Instinctual. An entire life where appetite comes first and ‘carnal is a normal mode,' leaving little room to discover anything new about myself while constantly scavenging for the next gratification.”- The accompanying music video was directed by Will Wiesenfeld himself.
He told PAPER Magazine about the video, “I wanted immediacy. That’s one of many keywords in my explanations around Gut: immediate, nude, adult (and unadulterated), relentless, angry. I wanted the video to feel sort of stark and simple, where the thing you take away from it is essentially just very visible people. Maybe movement, like an edit-enhanced performance that gives the video and the song itself a solid symbiosis. And I wanted the look of it to be defiantly bright. A lot of music videos, including my own, are often darker and obfuscated, but I want to not live in any deep mystery about the music of Gut or the world built inside of this record. There’s no part of me that has anywhere left to hide, sort of. It’s supposed to be disarmingly forward, maybe even belligerent.” -
