Chris Lanzon Releases New Version “Lilo (Extended)” with Ber
Sydney-based indie-folk singer-songwriter Chris Lanzon teamed up with Minnesota-based indie pop singer-songwriter Ber to release a new version of “Lilo” called “Lilo (Extended)” on December 12, 2024.
The song is featured on his re-release EP “Angel Litany (Parallel Lines Edition)”, which was released on the sam day.
The original version of the song was released from the EP “Angel” back in May.
It was written by Berit Dybing, Chris Lanzon, Demi Louise, and Jerome Blazé. Produced by Chris Lanzon.
The pair made the song by working over the internet between Sydney and Minnesota.
Chris Lanzon said of the new version, “When I released 'Lilo,' it felt complete in its brevity-like it said everything it needed to say. But after seeing the incredible response, my relationship with it began to evolve. I started to wonder if there was more to uncover in the song's story, more to say. One day, as I was sitting at the piano exploring where else the song could go, Ber came to mind. She had connected with the song so deeply and brought her own perspective to it. I thought, 'What if she could help me take this song somewhere new?' It was cosmic timing. I told her my idea, and she immediately said, 'If you're serious, count me in.'”- He added, “This version of 'Lilo' isn't just an extension of the song-it's a reflection of everything this year has been about. It's about the magic of shared experiences, the joy of finding kindred spirits, and the power of music to connect us across time and distance. And that was that. We wrote and recorded this version over the internet, and tying it into the rest of the project with the Parallel Lines Edition felt like the perfect way to wrap up and celebrate this era.”

The new EP comprises 7 songs, including “Lilo (Extended)”.
Chris Lanzon said of the EP, “This EP re-release is a celebration of the magic that these songs have created this year - all the 'parallel lines' that stemmed from them. The last few months have been special. more than ever, I've been prioritising putting things into the world that feel right, and the energy I've been receiving back has warmed my heart. 'Lilo' was kind of the epitome of that. This song wasn't even part of the EP originally. There was another song I was working on but it didn't quite feel right. on a whim, I followed my gut and swapped it out for 'Lilo'. I'm glad I did. the reaction to this song was beautiful. People seemed to relate to it on so many levels, and some even started posting their own covers of it - something that's never really happened with my music before. one of those people was Ber all the way from minneapolis, who has since become a dear friend and one of my favourite artists. She heard the song and reached out, and the more we got to know each other the more we found there were so many parallels between us. We were on opposite sides of the world but we had so much in common. all of these little magic moments and coincidences kept happening.” - source : Apple Music
