Michael Botte Band Releases New Song “Other Side (Jim Morrison Tribute)”
Philadelphia-based rock band Michael Botte Band released a new song “Other Side” on December 6, 2024.
The song is a tribute to the late Jim Morrison, who was lead singer of American rock band The Doors.
The band founder and lead singer Michael Botte was inspired to write “Other Side” after watching a documentary about Jim Morrison's life and career.
American singer-songwriter Jim Morrison was born on December 8, 1943 and formed The Doors in 1965. The band released six studio albums with Jim Morrison.
After recoding the 1971 sixth studio album “L.A. Woman”, Jim Morrison died in an apartment in Paris at age 27.
His death is referred to as part of the 27 Club, a term for the disproportionate number of musicians who died at age 27 in the same era, including Brian Jones, Alan Wilson, Jimi Hendrix, and Janis Joplin.
The track captures the essence of Jim Morrison's rebellious and enigmatic persona, while also showcasing the band's signature hard rock sound.- Michael Botte said of the song, “In 1991 when Oliver Stone released the movie 'The Doors', I was a 22-year-old college student who became fascinated with not only The Doors music but also the man behind the myth, Jim Morrison. Finally, I wrote my tribute to him using wide fat guitars, soaring chorus', and deep rich synths.”
