Kacey Musgraves Drops New Music Video for “The Architect”
American country music singer-songwriter Kacey Musgraves dropped a new music video for “The Architect” directed by Lewis Cater on December 5, 2024.
The song is featured on her sixth studio album “Deeper Well”, which was released back in March, marking her first album in three years since the 2021 album “Star-Crossed”.
The track was written by Josh Osborne, Kacey Musgraves, and Shane McAnally. Produced by Daniel Tashian, Ian Fitchuk, and Kacey Musgraves.
Kacey Musgraves said of the song, “Around the time or a couple weeks after the insane Covenant School Shooting that happened there, and the community was just reeling and it felt just so off and scary. And you know, we got together to write a song, and we even felt guilty just being able to meet up and write a song and get to do something so pleasant as that when something so crazy had just happened. It sparked this very real conversation about life and how it’s really confusing how there’s so much suffering- there’s also so much beauty at the same time, so it’s this great weird duality of being a human, especially in these modern times.”- Director Lewis Cater said of the video, “I’m very grateful to have collaborated with Kacey to direct the video for this beautiful track. Deeper Well is a masterpiece and I’m very thankful to have played a small part in creating a visual piece for this era. The Architect contemplates the questions of existence. Is our world shaped by the hand of a divine creator, driven by the unstoppable forces of nature, or crafted through the intricate workings of scientific phenomena. Shot on gorgeous 35mm film out in California, this all came together thanks to the hard work from an incredible team.”

Kacey Musgraves has also been nominated for five 2025 Grammy Awards including Best Country Album for “Deeper Well”, Best Country Song for “The Architect”, Best Country Solo Performance for “The Architect”, Best Americana Performance for “Don’t Do Me Good” with Madi Diaz, and Best Engineered Album Non-Classical for “Deeper Well”.
