David Kushner Releases New Christmas Song “Empty Bench”
Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter David Kushner released a new Christmas song “Empty Bench” along with a music video on December 6, 2024.
For David Kushner, the song is his first festive single.
The song is a heartfelt ballad about loss and any longing for a memory that you once had from someone.
Initially, he didn't plan to release the song during the holiday season. But when he heard the bells in the chorus of the track, he decided it would be a Christmas song.
He co-wrote the song with producer Rick Nowels.
David Kushner said of the song, “I'm releasing the most heartbreaking Christmas song in the world. Wrote this for all the tough emotions you feel during Christmas. Christmas isn't joyful for everyone. For some, it's a season of loss, unmet expectations, or the pressure to feel happy when you don't. If that resonates with you, Empty Bench is for you.”
He added, “There's a lot of cool stuff to look forward to in the video. It'll be really cool to see what it means to people, specifically for people who are grieving losses of people in their lives during holidays.”- David Kushner's manager Brent Shows said of the song and video, “'Empty Bench' is a heartfelt ballad about loss and any longing for a memory that you once had from someone. He continued, “'Empty Bench' actually wasn't slated to be released around Christmas. David and I were listening to the track one day. We heard the bells in the chorus of the track, and we just had the idea that this could be a Christmas song. And so we looked at the time, and we're like, you know, it is a little bit close to Christmas, but we do have some time to, like, really push this forward. So within a week, we booked an entire production company, we had our team come out, and we started the production process for 'Empty Bench'.” - source : Apple Music
