Souls Extolled Releases New Song “GOLD”
Austin-based indie rock band Souls Extolled, consisting of Zach Black (vocals/guitar), Jay-P Ortiz (bass) and Joe Valadez (drums), released their brand new single called “GOLD” on December 5, 2024.
The song is the third and final single from their upcoming fourth studio album “Soulsex”, which is set to be released on January 2, 2025.
The band explores the depth of Stephen King's 'Fairy Tale' on the track.
The track was written by Joe Adam Valadez Jr., Jon-Phillip Ortiz-Martinez, and Zachary James Black. Produced by Chris “Frenchie” Smith.
The band lead singer Zach Black said of the song, “I'm a huge fantasy-sci-fi nerd, and for 'GOLD' I found inspiration in fantasy literature, using imagery and themes from Stephen King's book 'Fairy Tale' to denote how our journey through life teaches us to discern what's really important, and how in doing so we become the hero of our own story.”- The new album is their first body of work in three years since the 2022 album “MMXXII”.
It is their most personal and eclectically-inspired album to date, and their self-titled collection, opting for the band's preferred shortened version of their name, SoulsEx.
Zach Black said of the album, “We feel like the album captures perfectly the meaning of the band. Souls Extolled has always meant a celebration of our souls, spirits, or unique consciousnesses through music or art in general. If this is the last music I ever release, I'm absolutely ok with that. This is the album for me.” -
The band recorded the album with producer Chris “Frenchie” Smith at Bubble Studio in Austin.
The album has the history of the artist's musical roots ingrained in the recording process at a molecular level, working with Chris “Frenchie” Smith.
Zach Black said, “It was not only 'us', but it was an 'us' packaged and polished in a way we felt other people would get as well.”
