BATTLEFLAGG Returns with New Song “Ghosts”
Philadelphia-based singer-songwriter Jeff Hartwig's musical project BATTLEFLAGG returned with a new song “Ghosts” on December 4, 2024.
The song is his first music in two years since the 2022 EP The “Blood Meridians”.
Also, the track is the first single off of his upcoming EP “Solastalgia”, which is set to be released on January 7, 2025.
He recorded the song between Los Angeles and Philadelphia.
The song is inspired by the missed connections while one's known world disappears into the rearview.
It was written by Jeff Hartwig and Kitten Kuroi. Produced by Daniel Knowles and BATTLEFLAGG.
The track features Kitten Kuroi on backing vocals, Robbie Bennett on keyboards, David Hartley on bass, Brian De Leon on drums, Demian Bannister on guitar, and Dylana Nova on guitar.
The accompanying animated music video was directed by Galih Panji.
Jeff Hartwig shared on social media, “Thrilled to finally release this to the wild - 'Ghosts' from the upcoming Solastalgia EP. Much love and thanks to everyone who contributed.”- Jeff Hartwi said of the EP, “Solastalgia is defined by philosopher Glenn Albrecht in his 2005 article on the subject as 'the homesickness you have when you are still at home,' where you may find your home environment changing in distressing ways. It is a lived evanescence of what you have always known, like standing in one place as the life, memories and places fade away. Unlike nostalgia, solastalgia is distressing and is often attributed to environmental or other changes completely out of one's control.”

He continued, “When listening to these songs, I want the listener to understand, and feel the power of, the simple snapshots described within, and how such moments are common to many. Hopefully, in understanding that the experiences in the songs are common to all of us, particularly in the face of massive change, the listener will find a deeper connection to the people and places around them.”
