jasmine.4.t Releases New Song “You Are The Morning”
Manchester-based singer-songwriter jasmine.4.t released a new song “You Are The Morning” along with a music video on December 3, 2024.
The song is the third single off of her upcoming debut album of the same name, which is set to be released January 17, 2025 via American singer-songwriter Phoebe Bridgers' label Saddest Factory Records.
The track was written by Jasmine Cruickshank. Produced by American indie rock band boygenius: Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers, and Lucy Dacus.
The accompanying video was directed by Matty Forrester and Spike Bee.
jasmine.4.t said of the song, “One of my oldest and closest friends, Han, supported me through my transition. She would put me up regularly when I had nowhere to stay. She helped me sort through the pain I had left behind then find the strength to fight for my life and the lives of those around me. This fight is urgent, as on Trans Day of Remembrance (20th November), we named 427 trans people who have died violently this year.”- She continued, “This song is about the healing found in queer friendship. It is about queer people’s resilience in the face of violence. It is about our potential to bring about change within ourselves, those around us, and the world at large. I think trans people in particular have an incredible ability to change this world. Of course, we are challenging norms of gender/sex. Beyond that, this year we have seen trans people dismantling violent machines of all forms to help manifest a bright future. This is what ‘you are the morning’ has come to mean - it is an awakening to our power, and a call to action.”

jasmine.4.t shared on social media, “My new single 'You Are The Morning' is about queer friendship and solidarity. We in the margins have carried the weight of pushing for change for so long. This is all in the face of overwhelming violence - violence that claimed at least 427 trans lives in the last year (tdor.translivesmatter.info). Those of us who have lived so close to death are so broken and so exhausted. There are no days off. My friend Han Han helped me through my transition. She put me up when I was struggling with PTSD following my own experiences of violence. I had nowhere to stay. With the help of my chosen family, she brought me to a place where I am able to stand on my own, and support others. The song is about our friendship. It is about the ability that queers have to heal ourselves, it is about the ability that you have to change this world. When you listen to this song, I want you to think about those who need your help. I want you to realise the power you hold in reaching out your hands and joining worlds. We are all desperate for solidarity (the highest form of love, a wise she/they once said). You are the bright light of morning that we all need. If nothing else, give regularly and generously to Trans Mutual Aid Manchester - an awesome organisation that supports trans people in need. We are awaiting your awakening.”
