SAYGRACE Releases New EP “New Age”
Los Angeles-based Australian singer-songwriter SAYGRACE released her new EP “New Age” on November 29, 2024.
The EP is the followup-to the 7-track EP “Deep Rest”, which was released back in May.
Both EPs were released as independent artists after leaving RCA Records.
Also, two EPs are her first projects in four years since the 2020 EP “The Defining Moments of SayGrace: Girlhood, Fuckboys & Situationships”.
The EP comprises 6 songs, produced by Tele, Andre Harris, Blake Straus, Ian Walsh, TheNightAftr, and Louie Lastic.
SAYGRACE said of the EP, “So much love has gone into this music, many hours many late nights and a whole lot of patience as all the pieces fell perfectly into place to be able to release this body of work. a new age... the evolution of deep rest. I'm so excited and nervous to finally share her with you.”- SAYGRACE explained about some tracks for the EP.
“Mailly”
“Mailly, there is no deep meaning behind this song. It was a lot of fun to make. I think it was like the second time I had worked with Tele, who has become one of my favorite people to collaborate with. He is an incredible artist, amazing producer, sick writer. And there was also another writer, Nikki Flores, in the room, who was also amazing. And I think I got to the session, and he had a bottle of Mailly, which is a bottle of French champagne, and we just sort of all had a glass used and decided that that was going to be the topic of the song, and he pulled up the beat, and I kind of just spewed out this song.
And just sort of mumbled and free styled over the track and then we pieced everything together, and it became Mailly. It was very quick, it was very easy. It was one of those things that just sort of worn out as cheesy as that sounds, and it's probably one of my favorites on the record, and it's just fun for the visuals. We essentially the brief was like, let's just go out and get a bit drunk and have the camera rolling the whole time, so all of the visuals for that song is literally me just a bit tipsy, walking around Sherman Oaks and going to this dive bar, karaoke bar we love the Oaks, and just having fun. So it was that was a very cool one to bring together. And definitely one of my favorites.” -
“Life Out There”
“I did this record with an incredible producer called Blake Straus and an amazing writer named Cara Salimando. And at the time that we wrote this record, I was feeling very much stuck in a relationship that I was in. I was sort of in the beginning stages of like doubting whether this was where I was supposed to be anymore, and whether it was healthy for me to be in the relationship anymore. And I kind of had this deep knowing that it wasn't and it didn't run its course. And I'm sort of watching everything fall apart and things dying around me, and at the same time questioning whether the grass was really going to be green, greener on the other side. So out of that life out there was born, you're sort of hearing my like inner dialog of weighing up the pros and cons, looking at my situation and the environment and the things around me that were happening, and deciding whether or not. I really was gonna take this leap of faith and leave.”
“Mirror”
“Scrolling through my camera roll and realizing how habitual body checking has become for me.. how exhausting and empty it is to worry about your physical form being perceived negatively. I have no solution or wisdom on the problem just thoughts and a lot of feelings. I will say that every year older I get a little bit better at loving and accept myself fully and I hope you all do too my loves.” - source : Apple Music
