  • Michael Kiwanuka Drops New Music Video for “One And Only”

  • British singer-songwriter Michael Kiwanuka dropped a new music video for “One And Only” on November 27, 2024.

The song is featured on his fourth studio album “Small Changes”, which was released on November 22, 2024.
It was written by Brian Burton, Dean Wynton Josiah Cover, and Michael Kiwanuka. Produced by Danger Mouse and Inflo.
The video was directed by Malia Ann, who is known as Malia Obama, the eldest daughter of former US President Barack Obama.
In the clip, a woman chases her doppelganger through an isolated wooded area, eventually catching and coming face-to-face with the alternative version of herself.
Malia Ann won the Young Spirit award at the 2024 Deauville Film Festival for her directionaly debut “The Heart”, collaboration with Donald Glover's production company Gilga.
  • The new album is his first LP in five years since the 2019 album “Kiwanuka” and comprises a 11-track, produced by Danger Mouse, Inflo and Michael Kiwanuka.
It was inspired by the birth of his two children and moving out of his hometown London.

Michael Kiwanuka said of the album, “It's with so much gratitude and pleasure I can now share with you my 4th Album, Small Changes. This record to me has brought me back home in my spirit as an artist, a singer, and a songwriter. I've fallen back in love with record making after a long break. I remember when the melody began to appear over the chords in the chorus of Small Changes, suddenly I was back in my 20's in my bedroom at my Mum and Dad's hearing for the first time songs like Buffalo Springfield 'Expecting To Fly', or Arthur Lee's 'Everybody's Gotta Live, or Cat Stevens' 'Trouble' off of Mona Bone Jakon, Those kind of songs and melody's moved me so much I knew then what I wanted to try and do with my working life. As I was writing Small Changes I remembered what got me hooked, what persuaded me to sing. I remembered that what really matters to me is the song writing, the music, and then the sharing it all with you. Thank you for letting me do this, I'm so privileged. So to you. This is Small Changes.”
  • Michael Kiwanuka explained about some tracks for the album.

    “Floating Parade”
“The floating parade is the metaphorical movement of taking yourself out of an uncomfortable situation and seeking comfort elsewhere, driven almost solely by the power of the mind.
My plan and my intent for this song is that you can be transported while the listens to it somewhere, amazing somewhere. That's your utopia. And that's where I wanted to do the sound of this record. The sound of this is to create that sort of feeling of utopia and peace.”

    “The Rest Of Me”
“We were trying to shoot for something that might have made it onto a Bill Withers album or a Sade album. (as a child in the back of his aunt's car), where Diamond Life was rarely out of the tape machine.”
