  • Hot Chip & Sleaford Mods Team Up for Two New Songs “Nom Nom Nom” & “Cat Burglar”

  • London-based synthpop band Hot Chip and British post-punk duo Sleaford Mods teamed up to release two new songs “Nom Nom Nom” and “Cat Burglar” on November 26, 2024.

Two artists recorded the songs at Abbey Road studios in London as a benefit 7" single, which was released via Friendly Records.
All proceeds of the single will go to charity War Child.
The cover art of the single was created by cartoonish David Shrigley.
Both songs were written by Al Doyle, Alexis Taylor, Andrew Fearn, Jason Williamson, Joe Goddard, Leo Taylor, Owen Clarke, and Rob Smoughton. Produced by Owen Clarke, Al Doyle, Alexis Taylor, Joe Goddard, Rob Smoughton, Leo Taylor, Andrew Fearn, and Jason Williamson.

Hot Chip's Joe Goddard said in a press release, “Making these songs over the course of one day at Abbey Road was a great experience. We arrived without a plan but quickly began working together in a harmonious way, with lots of improvisation and very little ego. We are very grateful to Sleaford Mods for joining us and very proud of the result.”
  • Sleaford Mods' Jason Williamson said, “On the day we went in cold and just handed ourselves over to it. ‘Nom Nom Nom’ is a lyrical continuation from our album UK Grim over Andrew’s keyboard riff, built on by Hot Chip and finishing up with an excellent chorus from Alexis [Taylor]. ‘Cat Burglar’ is a weird prog-rock-meets-B-52s jam that explores the narrow corridors of modern human experience. War Child is doing important work in a time where the world is in chaos and although we can’t fix the chaos, we can do a bit to help.”
  • Hot Chip shared on social media, “We’ve teamed up with Sleaford Mods for a unique seven-inch single featuring two brand-new tracks recorded in one day at Abbey Road: ‘Nom Nom Nom’ & ‘Cat Burglar’. Out today, this special release is brought to you by Bristol label and record shop Friendly Records, with proceeds supporting the amazing charity War Child.”
