  • BAMBARA Announces New Album “Birthmarks”, Shares New Song “Pray to Me”

  • Brooklyn-based post-punk band BAMBARA, consisting of Reid Bateh (lead vocals/guitar), Blaze Bateh (drums), William Brookshire (bass), has announced their upcoming fifth studio album “Birthmarks” will be released on March 14, 2024 via Bella Union.

This marks their first album in five years since the 2020 album “Stray”. Also, it is the first release under their new label Bella Union.
The album comprises 10 songs, co-produced by Graham Sutton of Bark Psychosis and BAMBARA.
The band called the album as “a wild, adventurous suite of songs that follows a host of lost characters caught in a multi-generational cycle of love, violence and rebirth.”
From the album, the band released the first single called “Pray to Me” on November 25, 2024.
The track was written by Blaze Bateh, Reid Bateh, and William Brookshire. Produced by BAMBARA and Graham Sutton.
The accompanying music video was directed by William Hart.
  • The band frontman Reid Bateh said of the song, “A one-eyed man arrives at a country karaoke night with a knife in his pocket and a plan to win over Elena, the object of his obsession. His fantasy unravels when he sees her kissing a stranger—her boyfriend—at the bar. The music barrels along with a raucous mania, mirroring the one-eyed man’s spiraling psyche as it begins to whirl toward a murderous climax.”
