  • Winona Oak Releases New Song “My Body”

  • Swedish singer-songwriter Winona Oak released her brand new song “My Body” on November 22, 2024 via Nettwerk.

The song is the second single since the 6-track EP “Void”, following “You're Always High” released last month.
The track was written by Aron Bergervall, Lina Hansson, and Winona Oak. Produced by Aron Wyme.

Winona Oak said of the song, “Writing this song together with Aron Bergerwall Gedin and Lina Hansson was such a healing experience. Regardless of whether you fit the conventional standards of beauty or not, we're all a part of a bigger problem - a society that makes billions of dollars on our insecurities. As someone who's been dealing with restrictive eating I know how harmful it can be to the body and the mind. It can lead to body dysmorphia, missed periods, depression and infertility. All I'm trying to say is that all bodies are beautiful and we are all worthy to be in charge of them and our own sexuality.”
  • She continued, “This song has opened up a freedom for me I didn't know I needed. Writing this song forced a realization that I needed to forgive myself for the way I had treated myself as a teenager and as an adult. I think as we get older, we slowly (hopefully) realize that we need to be kinder to ourselves, but what I think we miss is that is just the first step – we need to forgive ourselves for speaking negatively to our bodies and ourselves in the past.”

  • She added, “I'm still in the middle of this journey but I hope this song allows others the same realization of healing and forgiveness. ALL bodies are beautiful, and we are all worthy to be in charge of them – apologize to your body if you've spoken badly toward it, it is a beautiful creation that deserves love.”
