Kaitlyn Olson Releases Debut EP “After The Rain”
Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Kaitlyn Olson released her debut EP “After The Rain” on November 15, 2024.
The EP comprises a 4 track, featuring American rapper RMR, produced by Javi Marzella and Luke White.
All songs were written by Kaitlyn Olson. Executive produced by RMR and Beverly CarMichael.
After years of writing dance-pop and KPOP hits for other artists, Kaitlyn Olson is returning to her roots with her debut EP, perfectly encompassing who the artist is and offering a mid-tempo, soulful sound that embodies her personality.
The EP is focused around themes of love and heartbreak, capturing raw emotion and vulnerability with every song.
Kaitlyn Olson said of the EP, “In a way, this EP is an amalgamation of all the friends I've made over the years that I love working with.”- “Everytime” with RMR via New England Sounds
“This is just a straight up love song because we need more love in this world, especially right now! I had been writing a lot of uptempo dance songs for other artists, and he (RMR) and I talked about making something together for my artist project that felt more classic, which is what I tend to listen to more when I'm alone. When we went into the studio, I just wanted to write a feel-good love song because we have so much sadness in the world right now! RMR is such a talented writer, and we finished the song quickly in about an hour, then recorded vocals with co-producer Javi Marzella. I wanted the song to have a more analog feel. I had Luke add guitar and my friend Jeff Kite from the Voidz add live bass and pads on a Prophet 5. Once I sat with the song, I made some changes and re-recorded my vocals from home myself on Ableton.” -
“After The Rain”
“The visual was so striking to me as I was half asleep, because I couldn't believe that the same guy I was crying on the floor over years ago was now chasing me down dangling jewelry!
I was so inspired by my wake up call that day, that I wanted to write a song for her to let her know that everything was going to be okay! The song is for anyone with a broken heart who's hoping to have the last laugh over someone who wasn't worth their tears in the first place, because "After the rain, roses sprout out of the ground." The message in the song, however, is more about finding self-love than anything, which is always a place I try to write from, as embodied in the lyric, "You find light you never found, even when no one's around.”
