Alfie Jukes Premieres New Song “Boys” on BBC Radio 1
British singer-songwriter Alfie Jukes premiered a new song Boys” on BBC Radio 1's Future Pop with Mollie King.
The song is the second single off of his upcoming EP “All Dressed Up For Nothing”, which is set to be released on March 7, 2025, following “Sunburn” released last month.
The EP is his first project since the EP “Sitting Pretty”, which was released back in April.
He wrote the song with producer Jules Konieczny, The track is inspired by The Japanese House's “Touching Yourself”.
Alfie Jukes said of the song, “It all started about a year ago when I was really missing my best friend. He was away at Union in Manchester, and we only got to see each other a few times a year. I was feeling pretty nostalgic about things, and I took this into a session with Jules and told him I wanted to write a song about it. We started off by listening to some references. And I was super into The Japanese House at the time, so Jules started making a track, inspired by that sound 'Touching Yourself'.”- He continued, “The verses actually came pretty fast. I'd written a bunch of lines down on the train, which I knew I wanted to use, kind of referenced small moments in the earlier days of our friendship, which kind of only we would get I had the phrase 'I miss those boys' written down in my notes. And I knew I wanted the lyric to kind of focus on that and use that as a hook 'I miss thos boys???'.”

He added, “When it came to the bridge, I wanted something super simple that people could chant and shout out at a gig. 'We had it all so good' felt like the perfect line. We didn't want to overthink the section too much, and so we went straight into recording without any sort of planning, just to see what would happen. Actually the take we got the first time was the take that we used, which is pretty cool. 'Boys' is probably my favorite song that I've ever made. It means a lot to me. I'm super proud of it, so I hope you love it as much as I do.” - source : BBC Radio 1
