George Harrison Releases New Version of “Be Here Now”
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the late Beatles member George Harrison's fourth studio album “Living in the Material World”, it will be reissued in an expanded super deluxe box set on November 15, 2024 via Dark Horse Records and BMG.
The original version of the album was released in 1973 via Apple Records.
The album comprises 24 songs and was overseen by Dhani and Olivia Harrison and completely remixed from the original tapes by Paul Hicks.
From the album, the new version of “Be Here Now” was released on October 24, 2024.
The song is accompanied by a music video directed by Mathew Newton & Leah Marie Newton.
The track was written and produced by George Harrison.
George Harrison said of the song, “Sir Frank Crisp says on the wall outside, he says, past has gone, outcomes, not that we call future is not may not be at all. Present is improved, the flying out present only is within thy path. So it's like the idea that this guy kept saying to me now. Because something a lot of the time, most people are either dreaming about tomorrow, the future, or it wasn't a good last week, but at the meantime, they're not having that experience of what's happening now. So I wrote that from that idea, 'remember now, be here now, as it's not like it was before the past, was be here now'”- The widow of George Harrison, Olivia Harrison said of the album, “I hope you revisit Living in the Material World or discover it for the first time, and as you listen, share George's wish for himself and mankind... Give me Love Give me Peace on Earth.”
His son, Dhani Harrison added “Finally, we are overjoyed to present to you the 50th-anniversary package of George Harrison's 'Living in the Material World'.
