HAYLA Releases Debut Album “DUSK”
London-based singer-songwriter HAYLAM released her debut album “DUSK” on November 1, 2024 via Restless Minds Music/Believe UK.
The album comprises 10 songs, which were recorded over three years, consists of all original songs along multiple styles and genres, penned and performed by HAYLA with production from Alex Tepper, Andy Sheldrake, Blanke, Carl Ryden, Flourish, HAYLA, Martin Searle, Mother Earth, Nick Henriques, Oliver Winters and Waine.
Each song on the album runs deep exploring different themes of love lost and won to anxiety, regained strength and dreams.
HAYLA told Arielle Free of BBC Radio 1's Dance Party about the album, “I'm still trying to take it in. If I'm brutally honest, it's been the most amazing journey, and I'm just loving it so much.”
She continued, “I think it's like, the vision of, kind of what we wanted to have out there. It's like this sort of dark, moodier, kind of like world, and it's amazing. I've been able to work with so many amazing creative people, this whole team that we've been working with on this, like, the last sort of six months into what it is now. It's just really, really driven home this sort of, like, stylized idea, and I can't wait to build that world out more.”- HAYLA shared on social media, “Three years in the making and what a journey its been! I've been so fortunate to work with some incredible co-writers and producers on this album - without them I wouldn't have been able to bring this album to life! Thank you so much to everyone who's been following me on this journey it means more than you know!!!! I hope you love this album as much as I've loved.”

HAYLA explained about some tracks for the album.
“Alone”
“I think this track was written about a year and a half ago, with the incredible Flourish. It's more of a sort of for me especially, definitely a lot more of a therapy piece. But I really, really enjoyed writing it with him, and he's such an incredible producer. And also it's nice to kind of have something that's sort of a bit further removed from the EDM kind of he shins that I've had, stylistically, so I've always loved this track.”
“Freefall”
“I wrote this song in LA about a year and a half ago with Carl Ryden. The track was one that I always loved and when we were thinking about what to put on the album this track really stuck out as a stand alone single release. This song's story happens after the love has gone – when the realization hits that no matter how hard you try to make something work you can't. The chorus however asks the question of gravitational pull...maybe in another time it would bring you back together.”
“Treading Water”
“This is one of the most cathartic songs I've ever written. Thank you to the amazing producers behind the music Andy Sheldrake and Oliver Winters and to my team Believe Digital and Restlessminds Music. I hope you love this track it as much as I do. Anyone who feels like they're stuck treading water or in an unhealthy cycle you're not alone. I hope this track gives you a moment of catharsis too.”
“Embers”
“'Embers' is all about that tiny bit of love you still have left for someone. You can burn everything that reminds you of a person but sometimes the last thing that remains glowing is that tiny ember that only time will put out.” - source : BBC Radio 1
