Emei Releases New Song “9 LIVES”
Los Angeles-based Chinese-American alt-pop singer-songwriter Emei released a new song “9 LIVES” on November 1, 2024.
The song is the third single off of her upcoming EP “RABBITHOLE”.
The new EP is the follow-up to the debut album “Scatterbrain”, which was released back in July.
On the track, emphasizing the fear that her support system of close friends, family, and colossal fan base will one day give up on Emei and her dreams, she provides an honest insight into her everyday struggles with anxiety.
The track was written by Emily Li, Matt Kahane, and Olivia 'LIIV' Cargile. Produced by Matt Kahane.
Emei said of the song, “It's inspired by my frustration with myself and the fear that one day the people who love and support me will give up on cleaning up my messes.”- She shared on social media, “This is a very sad song. This song felt too honest to share for a while but once I was putting rabbithole together it made sense. It's ab the smallest form of Alice lost in the forest and it's ab my biggest fear of people giving up on loving me... through the past two years it's meant very different things to me, about family, friends, boyfriends, team members, and even you guys and my fear of one day never playing another show to you bc everyone might give up on me. I've loved showing a few of you this one early and I can't wait to play it on tour next year.”
