Rose Betts Announces New Album “There Is No Ship”, Shares New Song “Running”
Los Angeles-based British singer-songwriter Rose Betts has announced her upcoming sophomore album “There Is No Ship” will be released on March 7, 2025 via Nettwerk.
It is her first album in three years since the 2022 debut album “White Orchids” and comprises 11 songs.
Rose Betts said, “People say writing the second album can be the hardest but I feel like these songs have been waiting inside me for years, setting them free has been so exhilarating and has changed me as a songwriter.”
From the album, she released the fifth single called “Running” on October 25, 2024.
The track was written and produced by Rose Betts, with production by Mark Siegel, Sean Cook, and Jeremy Skaller.
Rose Betts said of the song, “Sometimes I feel like leaving my homeland split me apart. I never consulted my feet about the trip, maybe they had other plans for us. Maybe they got lost along the way or chose another path. Maybe they chose a better one!”
She added, “Given its title it makes sense this song was a hard one to pin down in some way. So easy to write, it fell into my lap fully formed really, but finding its musical world was a bit of a chase.”- She added, “Given its title it makes sense this song was a hard one to pin down in some way. The album captures an unbridled spirit while layering in artful and tasteful alt-pop tones.
In the summer of 2023, Rose retreated to a cabin in Crestline, California, where walks around Lake Gregory helped clear creative blocks and inspire the songs for the album.
She said of the album, ‘There Is No Ship’ is a kind of love letter to what formed the bones of me. From the dewy skies and water seeped hues of English fields… to my parents and their parents and the eternity of lives lived that flow through my veins. It took leaving my homeland to feel the potency of where and what I come from, and to begin to understand how bound I am to all of it.” - source : Apple Music
