The Weeknd Releases New Song “São Paulo” featuring Anitta
Canadian singer-songwriter The Weeknd joined forces with Brazilian singer-songwriter Anitta to release a new song “São Paulo” on October 31, 2024.
The song is third single off of his upcoming sixth studio album “Hurry Up Tomorrow”, following “Dancing in the Flames” and “Timeless”.
The new album will serve as the final part of an album trilogy that began with the 2020 album “After Hours” and continued with the 2022 album “Dawn FM”.
The pair first performed the song during The Weeknd's “One Night Only” concert in Brazil in September.
The track was written by Abel Tesfaye, Agustinho Raphael Dos Santos, Andre Luiz Viegas, Everton Ramos De Araujo, Flavio Seraphim De Almeida, Larissa de Macedo Machado, Marcelo Nei Leal, MIKE DEAN, Sean Solymar, Tatiana Dos Santos Lourenco, and Washington Luis Costa Vaz. Produced by The Weeknd, MIKE DEAN, and Sean Solymar.
The accompanying music video was directed by Freeka Tet.- The Weeknd told Billboard Brazil about the song, “Anitta is a great friend. What she sent was so awesome that we created the song. We knew it was too special to just play on stage. We saw great potential in the song and found the beat, which is the heart of the show.”
