Låpsley Premieres New Song “Church” on BBC Radio 6
British singer-songwriter Låpsley premiered her brand new song “Church” on BBC Radio 6 with Chris Hawkins.
The song is the first solo music, following the 2024 EP “A Guilty Heart Can Never Rest” released back in May.
Also, it is the first release as an independent artist since 2014.
The track was written and produced by Låpsley, Greg Abrahams, Teodor Runsiö, and Frans Torell.
Låpsley said of the song, “It was a privilege to be brought up amongst my brother and male cousins with freedom and adventure and endless wonder. To not be restricted. But I was sold an unrealistic dream that equal treatment would continue, and slowly through my teenage years and into adulthood, the difference presented itself in dark and unexpected ways. There's a grief of a life that never would or could exist within the patriarchy.”- The accompanying music video was directed by Jeanne Buchi, who filmed at St Cuthbert's Church, Halsall.
Låpsley said of the video, “Taken at St Cuthbert's Church, Halsall. Where generations of my family have been wed, baptised and buried. Wearing my grandfather's kilt.” - source : BBC Radio 6
