Kaskade & Wilkinson Premiere New Song “Shine On” with Paige Cavell on BBC Radio 1
American DJ Kaskade and London-based DJ Wilkinson teamed up to premiere a new song “Shine On” on BBC Radio 1's New Music Show with Jack Saunders.
This time, London-based singer-songwriter Paige Cavell joined in the song as vocals.
They first performed the song during a big Halloween thing in Seattle last week.
The track was written by Paige Williams, Paul Harris, Lewis Jankel, Mark Wilkinson, Thomas Shaw, Ryan Raddon, and Finn Bjarnson.
Produced by Kaskade, Wilkinson, Paul Harris, Thomas Shaw, and Shift K3Y.
Wilkinson told Jack Saunders about the song, “This is made, London to LA, we came together for this one, it's been a long time coming to turn it up.”- He continued, “Kaskade had this idea. And we've been kind of discussing doing something for a long time, was it 2017?. Obviously, I remember Kaskade when that tune came out. It was one of my favorite tunes. In fact, it was my favorite dance record for a long time. And I just loved the production. I loved like, the sort of white noise and the very like, we talked about this last time Jack like, that those velvety sounds, it was very well produced. It was very clean. So when I heard this idea, that Kaskade sent me, it took me back to them, and I was like, I just want to kind of do this track justice in a drum and bass way, but also with those sort of sounds that I loved of Kaskade at the back in 2006. So that's I wanted to kind of bring all that together.”

Kaskade said, “I think as I was working on it, I was doing my kind of standard troggy sound. It worked really well with the song, but I kept punching the volume up and up and up. And I'm like, I think this might work as a drum in the bass song, because it's, it felt slow, is just kind of a house track. And I've had Wilson in the back of my mind for a long time because I'd done a mash up with one of his songs that I loved. And I just thought what If I send it to him and see if he's interested.”
Wilkinson added, “First up, it's just amazing, just to have a message in my inbox from Kaskade. I mean I remember to wake up, it's like, what? Okay. And then, it's one of those things, like, when you take a record and you speed it up to drum and bass tempo, it's such a big jump. And I tried it, I just literally sped it up. And I was like, it's gonna work. It just happened real quick.” - source : BBC Radio 1
