Declan McKenna Premieres Two New Songs “Champagne” & “That's Life” on BBC Radio 1
British singer-songwriter Declan McKenna premiered two new songs “Champagne” and “That's Life” on BBC Radio 1's New Music Show with Jack Saunders.
Two songs are his first music since the third studio album “What Happened to the Beach?”, which was released back in February.
Also, two songs are double A-side, and mark his first independent release under his own label Miniature Ponies.
Both songs were written and produced by Declan McKenna and Jules Apollinaire.
The accompanying music video for “Champagne” was directed by Jake Passmore.
Declan McKenna told Jack Saunders about two songs, “They're actually not. They are ideas that have been around for a while, but they've kind of clicked in the last like couple of months. And me and my friend Jules, who is an incredible, crazy producer, who's all over the world, doing lots of amazing things at the minute. We've worked on these two together. And pretty much as soon as we had them done, we were like, Right, let's go. We could just throw these out. And we've done a double A, so they feel thematically, intertwined in a way, even though they're approached in slightly different ways.”- He added, “'That's Life', I think it's just, it's the shorter one, it's the more just like sprightly kind of feeling one, maybe. And I think that might ease us in.”
Declan McKenna will support American singer-songwriter Sabrina Carpenter's Short n' Sweet Tour in the US in November.
The tour kicks off at Ball Arena in Denver, CO on November 1, 2024.
