jasmine.4.t Announces Debut Album “You Are the Morning”, Shares New Song “Elephant”
Manchester-based singer-songwriter Jasmine Cruikshank, aka jasmine.4.t has announced her upcoming debut album “You Are the Morning” will be released on January 17, 2025.
The album comprises 13 songs, which she recorded at Sound City Studios in Los Angeles over 12 days, produced by American indie rock band boygenius.
Also the album is the first release under her new label American singer-songwriter Phoebe Bridgers' Saddest Factory.
jasmine.4.t became the first UK signee to Phoebe Bridgers label.
From the album, she released the second single called “Elephant” on October 22, 2024, following “Skin On Skin” released back in July.
The track was written by Jasmine Cruickshank, and produced by Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers, and Lucy Dacus. The accompanying music video was directed by Harv Frost.- jasmine.4.t said of the song, “I wrote 'Elephant' very early in my transition about my first t4t love. It's about when it hurts because you're trying to be friends but you both want to be more. My life in Bristol fell apart when I came out and, having no safe place to live, I was staying on queers' sofas in Manchester, traumatized and in no place to start a relationship. It was beyond healing recording this track in LA with Phoebe, Lucy and Julien, along with my Manchester dolls Eden and Phoenix and with extra layers from local trans musicians Vixen, Bobby, Addy and of course the incredible Trans Chorus of Los Angeles.”

The debut album was written amid personal upheaval in 2021.
She said of the album, “I came out as trans to my nearest and dearest. Some did not accept me, but some did. I was acting in a way I identified with, in the world. That was the main source of inspiration, plus feelings of love and romance, and that being so heightened by the hormones.”
