Honni Releases Debut Song “Counting Days”
Paris-based Danish singer-songwriter Honni released his debut song “Counting Days” on October 18, 2024.
The song blends the bittersweet emotions of missing someone with a touch of humor.
Originally, the song is inspired by American singer-songwriter Caroline Polachek's 2019 “So Hot You're Hurting My Feelings”, but took on a life of its own, morphing into an 80s-tinged indie pop track.
The track was written and produced by Laurits Bigum Steinberg, with production by Jacob Brøndlund.
Honni said of the song, “'Counting Days' is written to reflect the complexity of being physically distant from someone you care about, trying to be understanding, while struggling with the mental toll of separation as you wait for that special someone to come back into your life. But now that I'm the one who is far away from home, the lyrics resonate even more, reflecting life's constant motion and changing perspectives.”- He continued, “My songwriting often starts with me, my guitar and my computer and whatever comes to mind. I've usually written in metaphors but this time I wanted to be more concrete and real, writing about something happening right now. The lyrics might feel heavy at times but there's still a sense of humor woven in - after all, I'm singing about counting days in a ghost house.”
