Rhys Releases New Song “What's the Point of Crying”
Swedish-American singer-songwriter Rhys released her brand new song “What's the Point of Crying” on October 18, 2024.
The song is the final pre-single off of her upcoming EP “Portland”, which is set to be released on November 8, 2024 via The Satchi Six.
The EP is her first project as an independent artist since the 2022 EP “Thanks a lot now I can’t smile”.
She wrote the song with Swedish duo Teddy Failure.
The song humorously questions the value of prolonged sadness after a relationship ends, emphasizing the importance of moving on and finding joy in the present.
Rhys said of the song, “Me and my friends talk a lot about first loves and first heartbreaks. The first ones could ruin you for months and months, even years. Nowadays, (it doesn’t necessarily ever feel great when someone decides to end something), you just kind of get used to it - you cry like you’re dying for a day, then you just move on. It’s almost become comical for us. This song is about that feeling of acceptance and just realising that it happens to everyone, and it’s usually not personal and you’ll get over it. Life continues.”- She shared on social media, “I wrote this one with the amazing duo Teddy Failure who also produced it. I apologized profusely to them afterwards because i had been balling my eyes out while writing it. It was truly written IN THE MOMENT about real ass feelings- but i got over those feelings, just as the song predicts.”
