  • Rachel Chinouriri Covers Fontaines D.C.'s “Starburster” on BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge

  • London-based singer-songwriter Rachel Chinouriri appeared on BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge to perform a cover of Irish post-punk band Fontaines D.C.'s “Starburster” and her latest song “Even”.

The original version of “Starburster” was released by ontaines D.C. as the first single from their fourth studio album “Romance” back in April.
Their new album “Romance” was released in August 2024 and reached No. 2 on the UK Albums chart.

Rachel Chinouriri said of the song, “I'm a huge fan of Fontaines, and I think even the last two, the first two albums were amazing, but this one just took us somewhere else. And I have never really veered off doing my little cutesy little song. So I was like, I'll try and be a bit more harsh. So I thought I'd give it a go. I hopefully they like it.”
  • “Even” was released on October 2, 2024 as the first single since her debut album “What a Devastating Turn of Events”.
On the track, she teamed up with British singer-songwriter Cat Burns.
The track was written by Catrina Burns-Temison, Daniel Hylton, Peace Ugochukwu Okezie, and Rachel Chinouriri. Produced by HYLNU and Jonah Summerfield.

Rachel Chinouriri told Sian Eleri of BBC Radio 1 about the song, “I wrote this song ages ago, and then we had a verse which we needed, and then we sent it to Cat, and Cat had the time to do it. And the story as well behind it, and the meaning. And I think it's just important for both of us, as you know, black indie pop artists, to come together and everyone can love the drink and love fun. We're just doing what you can to make a difference.”
