Panda Bear Announces New Album “Sinister Grift”, Shares New Song “Defense” featuring Cindy Lee
American singer-songwriter and American experimental pop band Animal Collective member, Panda Bear has announced his new solo album “Sinister Grift” will be released on February 28, 2025 via Domino Recording.
This marks his first solo album in six years since the 2019 album “Buoys” and follows the 2022 collaborative album “Reset”with Sonic Boom.
The album comprises 10 tracks, which Panda Bear recorded at his own Estudio Campo in Lisbon, Portugal.
The album features a bevy of guests, including Cindy Lee, Spirit of the Beehive's Rivka Ravede, and all of his Animal Collective band members.
From the album, he released the first single called “Defense” along with a Ian Witchell-directed music video on October 15, 2024.
The song features Cindy Lee on guitar.
It was written and produced by Noah Lennox, with production by Josh Dibb.- “Working on this record felt like a sacred and warm return,” Animal Collective member and co-producer Josh Dibb said of the album in a statement. “Noah and I first started putting music down to multitrack cassette in 1991. 32 years later and working in the same fashion, two friends alone in a room searching for sounds and feelings that move us, I am very proud of what we created together. Sinister Grift feels like the songwriter I've known for over 30 years but also feels like some sort of new chapter for Noah. Couldn't be more proud of the result.”
