Olivia Reid Releases New Song “Love Don't Leave”
New York-based indie-folk singer-songwriter Olivia Reid released her brand new song “Love Don't Leave” on October 11, 2024.
The song is the first single off of her upcoming EP “soft songs for the soul”.
The EP follows up the 2023 EP “To Be Named By the People”.
She wrote the song while traveling in Poland with her partner, choreographer Kanon Sapp last year and completed it with co-producer Tim Atlas in New York.
When she wrote the song, she first performed it around a campfire at her accommodation in Brdaug.
In the track itself, voice memos of the group sitting around the fire can be heard, as the owners of the Burdag studio asking her, “Could you write [the song] down?”, and with the song's closing asking her to play “another one please.”
Olivia Reid said of the song, “I wanted to write music that would lower my heart rate, that would calm my mind, and bring me back to earth. And I don't usually write love songs out of fear that I might accidentally diminish an experience so complex and beautiful into something cheesy or cheap. But this song.. this one felt real.”- Olivia Reid told Fierce & Fabulous Revolution about lyrics, “I think, when I opened myself up to writing this as a love song, I realized how special the simple things about our relationship were and how really... I’d do anything for this person. And that concept is so vital: who are we to the people we care about? This gentleness and understanding is what comes out in genuine love, and comes out in love for family and friends too. And when you’ve got that kind of love in your life, it feels like everything else stings a little less.”

She shared on social media, “Last fall I took a trip to Burdag Poland with some other lovely souls - a trip for music making, dancing, bonfires, hammocks under the trees and walks with the cows. I ended up writing a collection of songs that made me feel the way this place did. Calm. Safe. Like I had plenty of time. I'm getting ready now to share some of these songs through this fall, and I hope they bring you that same sense of calm that I needed, in a chaotic world.” - source : Apple Music
