  • The Blessed Madonna Premieres New Song “Brand New” featuring James Vincent McMarrow & A-Trak on BBC Radio 1

  • American DJ The Blessed Madonna premiered a new song “Brand New” on BBC Radio 1's New Music Show with Jack Saunders.

On the track, The Blessed Madonna teamed up with Irish singer-songwriter James Vincent McMarrow and Canadian DJ A-Trak.
The song is taken from their upcoming debut album “Godspeed”, which is set to be released on October 18, 2024.
It was written by James Vincent McMorrow, and Marea Stamper. Produced by Joy Anonymous, Orlando Higginbottom, Pat Alvarez, and The Blessed Madonna.

The Blessed Madonna told Jack Saunders about the song, “It's all down to James, because he brought this to me and wanted to work on it. And it was like the challenge of a lifetime, because I wanted such a specific thing, but I had such tremendous and have my goodness, I just worship James. And I wanted a very specific feeling. That touch of Andrew Weatherall, that touch of church, and it did all get in there, eventually.”
  • They continued, “And the interesting thing is, there isn't actually a choir, it's just kind of everybody that would step through the studio over a period of time. So Joy Anonymous is part of it, and I'm part of it. And Jin Jin the writer, Jenny, if you're listening, I'm not going to say what I'll say about just I want you to know I'm thinking of you. And it's so just anyone that would come through, and we built it up into this giant stack.”

  • The debut album comprises a 24-track, featuring guest appearances from Jamie Principle, Kylie Minogue, Daniel Wilson, Kon, Joy Anonymous, Danielle Ponder, A-Track, Clementine Douglas, DJ E-Clyps, Jacob Lusk, James Vincent McMorrow, Jin Jin, Joy Crookes, Jyroscope, MARBL, Mother Marygold, Ric Wilson and Shaun J. Wright.

The Blessed Madonna said of the album, “It's changed my life. It's broken my heart and fixed it. It's broken my brain and fixed it. It gave me. The closest friends that I've ever made as an adult to be in the world, in the heart of Jin Jin and Joy Anonymous and Pat Alvarez, my brother and James and all of these people. I mean, we did a live remix version of this album in smart bar in Chicago, like I remixed it live with just CDs and a track and everybody, and just to have gotten into that place of creative intimacy with all of them.”
