The Cure Releases New Song “A Fragile Thing”
British rock band The Cure released the second single called “A Fragile Thing” from their upcoming fourteenth studio album “Songs Of A Lost World” on October 9, 2024.
The new album comprises a 8-track, and is set to be released on November 1, 2024 via Polydor Records and Capitol Records.
Originally, the song was called “Kill the Sun”, but was changed into the final version.
The track was written and produced by Robert Smith, with production by Paul Corkett.
The band lead singer Robert Smith said of the song, “'A Fragile Thing' is driven by the difficulties we face in choosing between mutually exclusive needs and how we deal with the futile regret that can follow these choices, however sure we are that the right choices have been made... it can often be very hard to be the person that you really need to be.”- Robert Smith said of the song in an interview video, “It's not really a love song in the way that love songs, of love song, it's about love. And how love is kind of like the most enduring of emotions. I think it's the most powerful emotion, and it's and it's incredibly resilient, and yet the same time, incredibly fragile. It doesn't that's paradoxical. I know it doesn't really make much sense, but I think, you know, what I mean, it's like, you feel sometimes you're in danger of destroying something, and yet you kind of know that it can't be destroyed.”
He continued, “I struggled with that song to try and it was actually originally, it was called 'Kill the Sun', and it was a very different song, and it mutated into this song, which is very specific to me, I suppose. But I'm hoping that it resonates with other people because it's a universal thing.” -
