  • Halsey Premieres New Song “I Never Loved You” on BBC Radio 1

  • American singer-songwriter Halsey premiered a new song “I Never Loved You” on BBC Radio 1's New Music Show with Jack Saunders.

The song is the fifth single off of her upcoming fifth studio album “The Great Impersonator”, which is set to be released on October 25, 2024.
The new album is thematically tied to artists who have influenced Halsey, and comprises a 18-track, featuring different decades and musical styles, the likes of Britney Spears-inspired 16th track “Lucky”, PJ Harvey-inspired 3rd track “Dog Year”, Dolly Parton-inspired 9th track “Hometown”, Cher-inspired 17th track “Letter to God (1974)”
So far, she impersonates different musical icons that correlate to each new track that is revealed on her Instagram.
This time, the new song is inspired by British singer-songwriter Kate Bush.
Halsey co-wrote the song with producers Michael Uzowuru and Tyler Johnson.
Halsey said, “This song cuts deep.”
  • Halsey told Jack Saunders about the album, “Every song is super diverse. And there's even more, you know, genres that I explore this. You know, there's a record that is like a true love letter to PJ Harvey, which was an absolute blast to make. And then there's another record I really love that's kind of like Portishead meets massive attack, which is really sick. I am powering overhead. My one of my favorite songs on the record is almost kind of like, it's kind of like postal services, and then like, at the end, it almost becomes kind of like LCD sound system. But I just, when I was in the studio, I was just like, I was thinking a lot about the gap between the music I make which I love very much, but the gap between that and the music I love. And I was kind of just like, why don't make music that sounds like the music I love.”
  • Last month, Halsey performed “Ego” from the album with Italian rock band Måneskin's bassist Victoria De Angelis, American model Jazzelle Zanaughtti, and American drummer Maya Stepansky on 2024 MTV Video Music Awards.

Halsey shared, “My dream 90s garage rock band for EGO at the VMAS. 4 dolls in a dollhouse. I'm so proud of this whole performance and I built every detail of it myself because I was determined to go up there and have FUN. Awards shows have historically been so stressful for me that I've dreaded them, but tonight was like I was just playing with my friends at home.”
