SOFY Announces New Mixtape “Another Day In Paradise”, Shares New Song “mine”
London-based singer-songwriter SOFY has announced her new mixtape “Another Day In Paradise” will be released on March 7, 2025 via Chess Club.
The mixtape is her first project in two years since the 2023 mixtape “Chaos & Commotion”, and comprises 9 songs.
From the mixtape, she unveiled a new song “mine” on October 9, 2024.
The song is the second single off of the mixtape, following “togethertogether” released back in July.
The track addresses the 'what ifs' in life, confronting your deepest thoughts.
It was written by James Stokes, Sophie Howes, and Edward Denholm who also produced the track.
She has already filmed a music video for the song, which will premiere on October 14, 2024.
SOFY said of the song, “'mine' is a confession, the first time that the feelings hinted at in the first three songs of the project are tentatively admitted - 'kinda think it'd be better, if you were mine'. It's about facing all the 'what ifs' and confronting your emotions because that's less scary than keeping those feelings to yourself and wondering what would have happened if you'd done things differently.”- She continued, “Musically it feels kind of desperate and frantic but lyrically it remains quite tentative, which I think matches the enormous emotions (anxiety, fear, excitement) that go into admitting your feelings for someone for the first time - 'if stars ever aligned then maybe you'd be mine?'”
SOFY shared on social media, “I had the idea on the bus home after saying goodbye to someone and wishing I'd told them how I really felt. I had all these 'what ifs' spiralling round my head - it's the musical equivalent of sending a risky text and throwing your phone across the room, jumping into the belly of the beast because that's less scary than keeping ur feelings to yourself and wondering what would have happened if you'd done things differently. we've been playing this song live for u since April (?!!!)” -
SOFY said of the mixtape, “I fell in love with making songs all over again writing this record - it was the first time I'd sat down with intention and written a whole project from start to finish, track 1 being the first chapter of the story and track 9 the final. Every lyric, chord, riff, feeling is there for a reason. I'm gonna be real with you, I've found the music industry over the last couple of years to be quite a weird place, with the pressure of that neverending quest for the viral single overshadowing how I really want to write music - as a body of work with a storyline, nuance and lore behind it. But making this project made me believe in that again, and I hope u feel the same way when u listen to it.”
