Alice Costelloe Releases New Song “My Whole Life”
London-based singer-songwriter Alice Costelloe released the second single “My Whole Life” from her upcoming sophomore EP “When It's the Time” on October 9, 2024.
The EP is set to be released on November 1, 2024 via Moshi Moshi Records.
The EP is inspired by a worrying health diagnosis off the back of a gruelling month long tour across Europe and Scandinavia, and the new song was written during her recovery.
The track was written by Alice Costelloe and produced by Mike Lindsay.
Alice Costelloe said of the song, "What I had initially dismissed as standard post tour burnout continued for months, eventually escalating into the diagnosis of a more serious health condition. It was the first time I’d really had to consider my health and mortality, and this was the first song I wrote when I started on the medication that I’ll now be on for life. I looked back on all the times I’d not felt right for years and wondered how different things could have been if I’d acted sooner. It was a real wake up call to appreciate the life I have and take care of myself and the people I love."- She shared on social media, “I wrote this song after a bit of a wake up call that forced me to consider my own mortality for the first time. It’s about how to make the most of your life in a world that often feels apocalyptic. This track really became something special in the studio with Mike Lindsay magical production and Jono Helsby vibey drums. We kept some of the keys and vocals I’d recorded in my original bedroom demo at the center and built the track around them, which I felt really kept that initial melancholic feeling at the heart but allowed it to become something bigger and better and may be my favourite on the record!”
