Duran Duran Premieres Cover of Electric Light Orchestra's “Evil Woman” on BBC Radio 2
British rock band Duran Duran, consisting of Nick Rhodes (keyboards), Simon Le Bon (vocals), John Taylor (bass) and Roger Taylor (drums), premiered a cover of British rock band Electric Light Orchestra's “Evil Woman” on BBC Radio 2 The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show.
The song will appear on a deluxe edition of their sixteenth studio album “Danse Macabre”, which is set to be released this Friday (October 11th).
The original version of the song was released by Electric Light Orchestra as the first single from their fifth studio album “Face the Music” in 1975.
The track was written by Jeffrey Lynne. The cover version was produced by Duran Duran and Joshua Blair.
The deluxe edition of “Danse Macabre” comprises a 16-track, including 13 previous songs, the new cover “Evil Woman”, a new instrumental “Masque of the Pink Death” and a remake of “New Moon on Monday” titled “New Moon (Dark Phase)”.
“New Moon (Dark Phase)” will feature contributions from guitarist Andy Taylor, who has been battling prostate cancer.
Also, the vinyl release will include four more new tracks.- The band keyboard player Nick Rhodes said of the deluxe edition, “When we released our 'Danse Macabre' project last year it was born from a spontaneous decision to pull together a record which celebrated the madness and joy of Halloween. In doing so, we unlocked an unexpected box of curiosity and creativity, which led us to reimagine some of our older songs, record cover versions of some of our favorites, and write several new pieces. This year, the inspiration was somehow still lingering, and I loved the idea of expanding the collection, because we could... Why not add some of the songs that we considered initially now that we had the luxury of a little more time? This thought resulted in another new song, a cover of the ELO classic 'Evil Woman', and a remake of 'New Moon On Monday'. The 'Danse Macabre De Luxe' vinyl box set also includes several additional tracks which make it even more special. This somehow feels like justice for vinyl collectors!”
