Charlotte Morris Announces New Album “Both Sides”, Shares New Song “Villain”
Nashville-based singer-songwriter Charlotte Morris has announced her upcoming third studio album “Both Sides” will be released on May 1, 2025.
The album is a nod to Canadian singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell's second album “Clouds”, which was released on the same date in 1969, and echoes her titular song “Both Sides Now” as an inspiration.
The new album is the follow-up to the 2023 album “Wild Child”.
From the album, she released the first single called “Villain” on October 4, 2024.
The song captures the inner complexities of human relationships and powerfully embodies themes of self-realization and empowerment, blending folk, pop, and Americana influences.
The track was written by Charlotte Amelia Morris and produced by William Gawley.
Charlotte Morris said of the song, “My value is not defined by another's perspective and while I may be the villain in his story, finally, he's nothing in mine.”
She continued, “'Villain' was my final cathartic release regarding a toxic past relationship. Writing it gave me emotional closure and allowed me to regain my personal power. While I may be perceived differently by my ex, I've come to accept that everyone has their own narrative.”- Charlotte Morris was selected for consideration for Best American Album with the 2023 album “Wild Child”, Best American Roots Performance with “The Day We Lost You”, and Best Music Video with “Love Ain't You” at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards.
The Grammy Award will be held at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on February 2, 2025. The ceremony will be broadcast on CBS. -
