  • FINNEAS Releases New Album “For Cryin' Out Loud!”

  • American singer-songwriter and record producer FINNEAS released his sophomore album “For Cryin' Out Loud!” via OYOY and Interscope Records.

This marks his first album in three years since the 2021 debut album “Optimist”.
The album comprises 10 tracks, which he worked on with a full band, unlike his debut album that he made by himself.
He recorded at a studio outside his home laboratory in Los Angeles surrounded by other musicians with whom he felt comfortable feeling out new material.
Produced by FINNEAS, and he wrote songs with co-writers Aron Forbes, Lucy Healy, marinelli, Matthew “rat” Fildey, Miles Morris and Sam Homaee.

FINNEAS said of the album, “I think to me on the last album, again, I was much younger, and I think maybe trying to seem like I had more figured out than I did, and I was sort of writing that album as if I was like, looking out a window in a tall building, like looking at everything and trying to be like, this is the way it is, maybe even though I didn't know. And this album, I set about, sort of trying to write an album that was like, sitting across a table at a bar, like over a drink, just sort of talking to people.”
  • He said of the album title, “I thought it was sort of vague and a fun thing that I said my whole life. And I thought the songs have a kind of exasperated vibe. There's a kind of a, like, argumentative vibe in the music. And I think, 'For Cryin' Out Loud!' is such a, like, thing you say in an argument. Like, it reminded me of something our parents have said to us our whole lives for crying out loud. I just thought it was like a cute sentiment. It's kind of got a double meaning. I like 'for' something.”
  • FINNEAS explained about some tracks for the album.

“What's It Gonna Take To Break Your Heart?”
“I'm thinking about my relationship with her, devoid of all of the other stuff.”

    “Cleats”
“I think this song, to me, has a real nostalgic feeling. This is about some stuff that happened to me when I was like 13, some stuff that happened to like, friends of mine. It's really about being 13 and being in love with your lesbian best friends. That's what the song is really about. We kept it ambiguous enough that if you didn't hear me say that just now, it doesn't have to be about that, but that's what it's about.
I was in this group of sessions with some of my really close writer, producer friends, and my buddy Ricky played that guitar part, which is very kind of like, Talking Heads, just kind of beachy feel. And I just was like, I know where to take this song. And it was April or May. I think I was like, oh, man, this reminds me of that kind of feeling at the end of the summer where you're like, wishing that all the warm days and the relaxed feeling isn't going to run out. And then, it's just like, oh, this thing is doomed to end, right away.”
