  • Jim Legxacy Premieres New Song “aggressive” on BBC Radio 1

  • British rapper and producer Jim Legxacy premiered a new song “aggressive” on BBC Radio 1's New Music Show with Jack Saunders.

The song is the follow-up to “nothings changed (!)”, which is a song in tribute to his late sister, and is the first single off of his upcoming mixtape “Black British Music (2024)”, which is set to be release in 2025.
The mixtape is the first release under his new label XL Recordings.
The song samples British rapper Chipmunk’s 2009 single “Oopsy Daisy”.
It was written and produced by Jim Legxacy, with production by AoD, Joe Stanley, and Tendai.
The accompanying music video was directed by Fidel, who filmed it on Blackberry.

Jim Legxacy told Jack Saunders about the song, “'aggressive' is just a song where I feel like I take my vulnerability and I turn it into something that's like, fun, and danceable and just exciting, I guess.”
  • He said, “I think the song is about, you know, I suppose, taking negative situations in your life and turning them into something that's a bit more positive. And I guess that's the premise.”

He continued, “I feel like it's an accumulation of, I guess, my life experiences and then the music that I grew up listening to my dad played a lot of music when I was little, so I guess the I take the sonics from that and just it just merges with my life experiences so on it. It does create kind of a juxtaposition, but that's the process.”

  • He added, “And I feel like everyone's kind of going through difficult times right now. It does feel kind of weird when you speak to people about life and their experiences. So I guess I just wanted to make something that kind of, still, it doesn't ignore it. I don't want to ignore people's experience, just experiences, whether negative or positive. But I think, you know, trying to be a bit more optimistic with the presentation of the things that we're making is important.”
