Tears For Fears Releases New Song “Astronaut”
British pop rock band Tears For Fears, consisting of Roland Orzabal (vocals/guitar) and Curt Smith (bass/vocals), released a new song “Astronaut” on October 4, 2024.
The song is the second single off of their upcoming live album “Songs For A Nervous Planet”, which is set to be released on October 25, 2024, following “The Girl That I Call Home”.
The live album comprises a 22-track, including four new songs and 18 songs in live.
The track is one of for new songs. It was written by Charlton Pettus, and Roland Orzabal. Produced by Tears For Fears and Charlton Pettus. The accompanying music video was directed by Maschima.
Curt Smith said of the song, “I wanna be an astronaut. Emotionally it's about this guy who doesn't feel he belongs here and wants to be an astronaut floating out into space... a lot of people identify with the emotion of that song, that sense of alienation.”- He continued, “Once we realized that we were going to end up doing more than just one new track for this album, Roland sent me the original recording of 'Astronaut' and I had forgotten how good of a song it was as it gives you a sense of release.”
He added, “It's a horrible comparison but it's the sorbet in between courses where you just can have a little breath and just float away. Forgive the pun but that's the feeling the song has.” -
The new live album was recorded during a 2023 show in Franklin, Tennessee for their “Tipping Point Tour” and features several songs from The Tipping Point as well as the band's classic albums.
They'll also be releasing an accompanying concert film titled “Tears For Fears Live (A Tipping Point Film)”.
The film will be distributed in over 1,100 cinemas worldwide on October 24 and 26 via Trafalgar Releasing.
